Reporting & Confidentiality Policy
Last updated 19 June 2026
This policy explains how we handle the reports, tip-offs and information you share with us, and the confidentiality you can expect.
1Report in good faith
We rely on members of the public, industry and others to flag potential non-compliance in the supplement, health and food sectors. When you submit a report, we ask that you act in good faith and only share information you reasonably believe to be true. Please do not submit information you know to be false, or that is intended to harass or defame a person or business. Knowingly false or malicious reports can expose you to legal liability.
2What happens to your report
Every report follows the same disciplined process:
- Detect: we receive your report.
- Verify: we test the information against the relevant law, code or register (such as the Therapeutic Goods Act, the ARTG or the Food Standards Code) before anything proceeds.
- Document: we build an evidence record of the claim, the source, the date and the rule potentially breached.
- Refer: substantiated matters are referred to the appropriate regulator (such as the TGA, the ACCC or a state food authority) through their official channels.
We are not obliged to act on every report, to act within any particular timeframe, or to provide updates, and we cannot guarantee any outcome. Unverified or unsubstantiated matters may go no further.
3Confidentiality
We take reasonable steps to protect the identity of people who report to us in good faith. We share your information only as necessary to assess, substantiate or refer a matter, or as required or authorised by law. We never sell or trade your information.
Please note that, in some circumstances, your identity or information may need to be disclosed, for example, where required by a court or by law, or where a regulator lawfully requests it as part of an investigation. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you before doing so.
4Information about third parties
Reports often contain information about businesses and individuals. Please only provide information that you are lawfully entitled to share. We handle all personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Australian Privacy Principles.
5No professional or agency relationship
Submitting a report, or our acting on one, does not create any legal, professional, agency or fiduciary relationship between you and Compliance Watchdog. Our services are also subject to our Terms of Use and Disclaimer.
6How to report
